At BioCertica, we have made significant investments in cutting-edge technology to ensure the highest standards of DNA processing and data security. Our state-of-the-art DNA processing machine, housed in the renowned Central Analytics Facilities (CAF) DNA Sequencing Unit at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, places us at the forefront of laboratory excellence. This monumental partnership guarantees the utmost safety and security of your personal data throughout the testing process.

User flows

From the outset, we focused on defining the core functionalities required for our Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Identifying the potential long wait times for our users as a primary concern, we proactively addressed this challenge to streamline the user experience. By tackling this issue early on, we were able to facilitate smoother progress and user satisfaction. Additionally, establishing clear communication between our mobile and web applications allowed us to identify overlapping features and determine the platform that delivers the optimal user experience.

Styles and components

In order to make progress, I created initial low and high fidelity prototypes for the web platform. These prototypes served as visual representations of the intended user interface (UI), allowing stakeholders to provide feedback and guide the design direction. By utilizing our predefined components and following a consistent visual design language, I ensured a seamless and unified user experience across the web application. The final web UI design embodies the distinctive brand identity of BioCertica.


Throughout the design process, I prioritized usability and intuitive interactions to optimize the user journey. Incorporating user feedback and iterative refinements, I fine-tuned the web UI to meet functional requirements while achieving an appealing aesthetic.

Web

I created prototypes, including low and high fidelity versions, to drive progress. These prototypes demonstrated the final web UI using components and a consistent visual design language. Stakeholder feedback guided iterative improvements. The resulting web UI design embodies BioCertica's brand identity.

Kit registration

During the redesign process, I focused on improving the kit registration entry point. To achieve a smooth and efficient experience, I implemented a streamlined flow on the web platform. By breaking down the steps, users were able to easily register their kits and schedule pickup.


The mobile platform offered an added advantage with its camera access. Recognizing this opportunity, I made scanning the barcode the primary option in the mobile app. This decision simplified the process even further, leveraging the mobile device's capabilities and ensuring a seamless registration experience.

Experience

By tailoring the features to each platform, we avoided unnecessary complexities and optimized the user experience. As the project evolved, we made a strategic decision to exclude kit registration from the web entirely, allowing us to maintain a focused and efficient registration process.


Through these design choices, we aimed to provide a user-friendly and efficient kit registration experience, capitalizing on the strengths of each platform.
